Redbull Stratos

A dude just jumped out of a perfectly good space ballon 24+ miles above earth today. That dude, Felix Baumgartner, just set a new world record for human free fall speed (729 mph) while skydiving from the edge of space. And he landed on his two feet. Like a boss. Well done Redbull, well done. Maybe let us work with you on the next one??

Check out Redbull Stratos here.

Austin f@#k!ng loves fried chicken

Honey Butter Fried Chicken was supposed to open here in Chicago over the summer. But, much like our last website update…it’s not here yet. Word on the street though is they are super close. After all, they just conducted a biscuit battle (!?!) and documented the whole thing on their Facebook page. They also have one of the most delicious looking Instagram profiles around. Can’t wait.

We Should Probably Buy This…

A $70,000 wooden bike crafted like a century old chair. Sure why not. We could probably use a couple of these as we roam Wicker Park / Bucktown in search of tacos or enroute to the arcade bar.

Somehow this frame is entirely steam bent, a nod to the good old days of chair and err… wooden bike building. Who’s going to buy this? No idea. But we’ll take 4.

We’re In Wired

So the fine folks over at Wired liked the MS MR release campaign for Candy Bar Creep Show so much, they featured it over at UnderWire. You can read the full article here. Our very own Brian Schopfel gets a few nods in there as well. Holy crap, guess we’re doing something right!

We had seen what an effective channel Tumblr was for premiering a record,” Schopfel said in an e-mail. “Using various post types, we were able to get featured placement on their Dashboard twice throughout the weekly track release for the EP. This resulted in over 9,000 reblogs, which for a relatively new band was exciting and encouraging.

Encouraging indeed.
